The Kalapooia Grass Fed Processing facility was built by Anderson Ranches to support their growing humane-raised lamb operation—and to provide a true humane processing option for other nearby farmers.

Designed with guidance from Temple Grandin, the facility promotes calm, low-stress handling from arrival through harvest. Curved alleys, non-slip flooring, and quiet working environment let livestock move calmly & naturally without unnecessary pressure or fear, while experienced staff ensure careful, respectful handling. The facility design also creates a safer, more practical workplace for employees.

The Kalapooia facility allows animals to be processed with the same care and respect they receive on pasture—offering a transparent, ethical solution for Oregon’s farming community and the end consumers.

USDA INSPECTED

At Kalapooia Grass Fed Processing, our facility operates under inspection by the USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS). This means a federal inspector is present during all slaughter operations and verifies our processing practices daily to ensure every product meets the highest food safety and quality standards.

For producers and retailers, USDA inspection means your meat can be legally sold to the public, distributed to stores, and shipped across state lines.
